Having an up-to-date telephone number with the CRA is important since it may be needed for multi‑factor authentication (MFA) or when the CRA needs to contact you by phone.

For information about when the CRA may contact you by phone and how to recognize a scam, visit Scam prevention and the CRA.

How to change your phone number

Online
My Account can help you quickly and easily manage your tax affairs online, including changing account information such as your phone number.

You can manage the telephone numbers that the CRA will use if you need to be contacted or for multi-factor authentication by selecting “Profile” and then “edit” under contact information in My Account.

If you are unable to sign in to your account, call the CRA to get access.
