Strategic Investment in Child Health
Announced by the Honourable Anna Gainey and the Honourable Marjorie Michel, this funding supports up to 14 research grants. The goal is to provide decision-makers with the insights needed to deliver nutritious food in a way that supports long-term well-being and academic success.
Funding Allocation:
- Employment and Social Development Canada: $9,000,000
- Public Health Agency of Canada: $2,700,000
- Canadian Institutes of Health Research: $900,000
Economic and Social Impact
The National School Food Program currently helps approximately 400,000 children annually. Research highlights that for every dollar invested, the program returns nearly $2 in social and economic benefits, confirming it as a high-value investment for Canadian families.
