Canada Child Benefit Payment Date: June 2026 Update

Understanding Your CRA Benefits and Payment Schedule

The Canada Child Benefit (CCB) is a tax-free, monthly payment administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) designed to assist eligible families with the costs associated with raising children under the age of 18. For June 2026, eligible parents and caregivers will receive their payments earlier than usual due to the standard payment date falling on a weekend.

June 2026 Payment Schedule

Typically, the CRA issues CCB payments on the 20th of each month. However, when the 20th falls on a weekend or a statutory holiday, the payment is processed on the preceding business day.

Maximum CCB Payment Amounts

Your specific CCB amount is determined by the number of children in your care, their ages, and your adjusted family net income from the 2024 tax year. The maximum benefit amounts available for June 2026 are:

  • Children under 6 years of age: Up to $666.41 per child.
  • Children aged 6 to 17: Up to $562.33 per child.

Note: These maximums apply if your adjusted family net income is $37,487 or less. Benefits are reduced on a sliding scale for incomes exceeding this threshold.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Canada Child Benefit, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. You reside with and provide primary care for a child under 18 years of age.
  2. You are a resident of Canada for tax purposes.
  3. You (or your spouse/common-law partner) are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, protected person, temporary resident, or registered under the Indian Act.

Important: You must file your income tax return annually to ensure your benefits are calculated accurately and to maintain eligibility.

How to Receive Payments

The CRA distributes funds via two methods:

  • Direct Deposit: The most efficient way to receive funds; the money is deposited directly into your bank account.
  • Cheque: If you are not enrolled in direct deposit, a physical cheque will be mailed to your address on file.
