Payment Amounts for May 2026
The payments you receive in May 2026 are still calculated based on your 2024 tax return. The next recalculation (indexing) will not happen until July 2026. Below are the maximum amounts for the current period:
| Child Age Category | Max Monthly Amount | Max Annual Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Under 6 Years Old | $666.41 | $7,997 |
| 6 to 17 Years Old | $562.33 | $6,748 |
Factors Affecting Your May Payment:
- Adjusted Family Net Income (AFNI): If your 2024 family income was over $37,487, your benefits are gradually reduced.
- Child Disability Benefit (CDB): Families with children eligible for the Disability Tax Credit may receive up to $284.25 extra per month.
- Shared Custody: If you share custody, you will receive exactly 50% of what you would have received if the child lived with you full-time.
Provincial Benefits Paid in May
In many provinces, local benefits are combined with the CCB into a single payment. Residents of Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia may notice variations in their total deposit due to provincial child benefit adjustments.
- Alberta: The ACFB quarterly payment is issued separately on May 27, 2026.
What to do if your CCB payment is late?
If you haven’t received your payment by May 20, the CRA advises waiting 5 business days before calling them at 1-800-387-1193. You can also check your payment status via the CRA My Account portal.
